Let`s talk about: "Eco-Terrorism"
Come along and join our discussion group at vhs club INTERNATIONAL! A short introductory presentation will offer insight into select issues and current topics in US society and culture. The following discussion will offer a great and fun way to practice your English language skills on an advanced level and to learn about different perspectives. Everyone is welcome. You don’t have to be an expert on the US, just bring an open mind and plenty of questions!
With the launch of the US environmental movement and the first Earth Day in the 1970s environmental issues became ever-present in the public sphere through a diverse array of protest methods. Especially in the US groups engaging in civil disobedience and property destruction have been labelled “eco-terrorists” from the 1980s onward. We will discuss different understandings of terrorism and what they might mean for citizens’ expression of dissent and rights to protest and debate the current backlash against climate justice activism.
