I've been a teacher at VHS Erlangen since 2023. I enjoy teaching at Erlangen because it allows me the freedom to choose the materials and to adapt the lessons to the wants and the needs of the students. The language department is very supportive, open-minded and flexible which makes working at VHS Erlangen a pleasure.
I have a BA in Psychology, MA in Social Psychology, CELTA (Cambridge certificate for teaching English as a foreign language) completed in 2008.
I teach English as a second language, for all levels. My focus in class is on communication and increasing vocabulary, with grammar corrections as they arise. I prefer to emphasize understandable
communication and build student confidence, rather than strict grammatical structures.
Kleingruppe 5 bis 8 Teilnehmer*innen Start your week right: In this new course, we will explore the expressions and language that are useful in everyday life. The themes discussed will be varied and include travelling, ordering food in a restaurant, email communication, expressing agreement and disagreement and describing personality traits, amongst others. The focus will be on increasing vocabulary as well as some grammar corrections as needed, with the goal of increasing fluency and confidence. The course topics are flexible and can be adapted to participants' interests and needs, and of course to our Monday morning moods. Participants should be comfortable in communicating in English, ideally level C1, however, motivated participants and those eager for a challenge from all levels are welcome. Participants are kindly requested to bring 4 euros to the first class to cover material costs.
Dieser Kurs ist für Teilnehmer*innen (ab circa 4 bis 5 Jahren Englisch) gedacht, die das B1-Niveau bereits absolviert haben und die neben einer gründlichen Wiederholung wichtiger grammatischer Themen vor allem das freie Sprechen üben sowie systematisch ihr Englischkönnen verbessern möchten. Der Kurs bereitet optimal auf die Niveaustufe B2 vor. Das Lehrmaterial wird im Kurs bekannt gegeben. Die Teilnehmer*innen werden freundlich gebeten, zu der ersten Kursstunde 4 Euro für Kopien und Materialkosten mitzubringen.
